Ryan and Kim met on December 8, 2006 at their company holiday party held at the Larsen Art Gallery in Scottsdale. The two hit it off that night talking about ASU football and the Monday following the holiday party, Ryan asked Kim out to lunch over instant message. Lunch was followed by a few homemade dinners, followed by few nights out at wine bars and before they knew it, Ryan and Kim were spending every available minute together.

They found they had more in common than just ASU football, both had attended ASU at the same time and had taken many communications classes in the same building. They attended the same college social events, and Ryan lived in the same complex as Kim's aunt Tracy just a few units away. Ryan and Kim's parents have the same wedding anniversary, August 16th, and Ryan was baptized on Kim's birthday, August 28th. Oh, and they worked in the same office for over a year, but never met until the night of the holiday party.
